Preface

When developing in a DeepSeek Harness (DSH) workspace, agent sessions often lack context sharing. At the start of each new session, the agent has to relearn the project context; when a session ends, progress records are often scattered throughout the conversation history and difficult to trace. The dsh-project-progress plugin addresses this pain point by providing a shared PROGRESS.md document for the workspace, used to maintain project facts and a progress timeline.

What Is This

This is a DeepSeek Harness (DSH) plugin that creates a shared project progress document for DSH workspaces. It enables cross-session progress awareness and release status fact management, and is maintained by Jolly-J.

Core Features

The plugin maintains a PROGRESS.md file in the workspace root. The document is divided into two sections:

  • Project Facts: Maintains stable facts, such as release status, GitHub repository URL, install commands, and so on.
  • Progress Timeline: Append-only entries that record turns, steps, token usage, and so on.

Cross-session progress awareness is implemented through system prompt injection, so the agent can read the project state at the start of a session. The plugin provides three model tools:

  • project_status: Reads the shared document in the current workspace.
  • project_update: Appends one progress entry to the timeline.
  • project_facts: Replaces the entire “Project Facts” section.

Installation and Activation

Run the following command to install:

dsh plugin --profile web add https://github.com/Jolly-J/dsh-project-progress.git

After installation, restart dsh web to activate it.

Data and Privacy

  • Local Read/Write: All reads and writes occur in the local workspace and only create or update PROGRESS.md in the workspace root. It can be manually edited or deleted at any time.
  • No Network Calls: Nothing is uploaded, and no secrets are read.
  • Session Restriction: Progress is automatically appended only for top-level sessions; subagent sessions do not write.
  • Write Rules: Automatic entries are structured (title, turn, token usage), the timeline is append-only, and old entries are not rewritten.
  • Language: The plugin’s text is currently in Chinese.

Typical Usage

  • Run dsh plugin --profile web add https://github.com/Jolly-J/dsh-project-progress.git to install.
  • Use project_update to manually append progress records.
  • Use project_facts to update project facts information.
  • Manually edit PROGRESS.md in the workspace root.

Use Cases and Notes

This plugin is suitable for developers who need to maintain project context across multiple sessions. Because the plugin runs with the current dsh process permissions, it is recommended to inspect the source code and license before installation.

Short Conclusion

After following the steps above, you can have a structured project progress document in your DSH workspace. It provides privacy-preserving cross-session state management through local files and tools, making it a practical helper in the development workflow.
