Introduction¶
The core architecture of DeepSeek Harness (DSH) is plugin-based. For developers or users accustomed to custom UI styles, the default white background can often feel monotonous. The dsh-bg-skin plugin addresses this pain point by replacing the white background of the DSH interface with a local image and providing an automatic fallback mechanism to ensure the interface never shows white under any circumstances.
Plugin Overview¶
This is a playful re-skinning plugin that replaces the background of the DSH interface with an image. It is maintained by jinzhengen964-cmyk. It provides a default image (assets/ds.jpeg), allows the image to be overridden through configuration, and includes features such as light/dark mode base color fallback and opaque AI output cards.
Core Features¶
- Default skin: Uses the repository’s built-in
assets/ds.jpegby default, so it takes effect immediately after installation without any configuration. - Override and fallback: Supports configuring
imagePathincordis.patch.yml. If the configured image does not exist or is unreadable, the plugin automatically falls back to the built-in image, ensuring the interface remains usable. - Layout and display: The image is displayed centered at 50% of the viewport width and remains fixed during scrolling.
- Readability guarantee: AI output message cards are set to be fully opaque, combined with light/dark mode base color fallback, ensuring text is clearly visible against any background.
- Technical implementation: Implemented in pure JavaScript with zero dependencies and no build steps. Images are read in real time, so changing the image or its path does not require restarting
dsh web.
Installation and Activation¶
Prerequisites: DSH (dsh web) is installed, and the environment must support Node.js ≥ 20.
Run the following command to install:
dsh plugin --profile web add github:jinzhengen964-cmyk/dsh-bg-skin
After installation, restart dsh web and perform a hard refresh in the browser (Ctrl+Shift+R) to see the effect.
Typical Usage¶
- Default usage: After installation, it uses
assets/ds.jpegby default and requires no action. - Custom image: Configure
imagePathin~/.dsh/profiles/web/cordis.patch.yml.
- id: bg-skin
name: 'dsh-bg-skin'
config:
imagePath: 'C:/path/to/photo.jpg'
Supports absolute paths, or relative paths relative to the `dsh web` working directory.
- Fallback mechanism: Delete the configured image file, or make it unreadable, and the plugin automatically falls back to the default skin.
- Uninstall: Use the uninstall command to remove the plugin.
dsh plugin --profile web remove dsh-bg-skin
Notes¶
- Version requirement: Node.js ≥ 20.
- Package manager: When using
pnpm, if build script interception is encountered, runpnpm approve-builds --allin the~/.dsh/profiles/webdirectory (this plugin has no native dependencies, so this operation is usually unnecessary). - Development and debugging: After modifying the code, restart
dsh webfor the changes to take effect. - Path support: Relative paths are supported when configuring the image path.
