DeepSeek Harness (DSH) Web client (dsh web) provides a basic interactive interface. For developers or users, the default styling may not meet the needs of a better reading experience or visual personalization. If you want a visual experience in dsh web that feels close to paper reading while retaining an Apple-style frosted-glass aesthetic, dsh-inkscreen-theme is a solution you can apply directly.

Overview

dsh-inkscreen-theme is a theme plugin for the DSH Web client. Developed by maintainer Jimmyzwang-cloud, it injects custom CSS variables and rules to redraw the interface in a light ink-and-paper style, with warm accent colors and Apple-style semi-transparent effects. The plugin aims to provide a cohesive visual experience, including handwriting-style typography and specific session status indicators.

Core Features

The plugin mainly provides the following visual and interaction improvements:

  • Global style injection: Injects e-ink/Apple-glass style CSS variables and rules into the sidebar, dialogs, message editor, code blocks, and scrollbars.
  • Chinese typography optimization: Provides readable Kai (Kaiti) style editing typography for Chinese conversation text, with handwriting-style headings and monospace fonts for code display.
  • Session tab bar: Adds a tab bar at the top of the chat interface for recent conversations. Each tab displays a live status dot (Running, Waiting for input, Completed, Idle), and clicking it directly switches to that session.
  • View switching controls: Integrates the built-in “Conversation/Trace” view switcher into the same header row, presenting it as a compact segmented control.
  • Brand logo replacement: Automatically replaces the sidebar brand logo, displaying a handwritten “jimmy” wordmark and a circular dog avatar image.

Installation

You can install it directly through DSH’s plugin manager:

dsh plugin add dsh-inkscreen-theme

Alternatively, add the plugin to your dsh.profile configuration. In package.json, include the plugin as a file: or npm dependency, list it in dsh.profile.bundles, and then restart dsh web to activate it.

Usage Notes

The plugin modifies package identity and CSS injection methods at runtime, so hot reloading is not supported. Any changes require restarting dsh web to take effect.

In addition, this theme currently contains some hardcoded personalized elements:
* The sidebar brand wordmark text is fixed as “jimmy”.
* The sidebar dog avatar image path is fixed.

If you need to modify these items, you must fork the repository and edit the name and DOG_LOGO constants at the top of lib/client.js.

Ecosystem Context

The design philosophy of DSH is “everything is a plugin,” and the community provides a rich set of third-party plugins to extend functionality. This plugin is hosted in the community directory and has no official affiliation with DeepSeek or High-Flyer.
