DeepSeek Harness (DSH) adopts an “everything is a plugin” architecture. During local development or debugging, manually checking versions, downloading packages, and restarting the service is common. This process is not only tedious but also prone to interruption due to network or permission issues. dsh-self-updater provides a same-origin, one-click interface for version checking, updating, and restarting for the Web profile, encapsulating the above workflow into visual operations.
Plugin Role¶
This is a plugin that provides a local same-origin, one-click interface for version checking, updating, and restarting for the DeepSeek Harness Web profile, maintained by user jijiz1. It serves via HTTP routes and accepts only loopback addresses and same-origin browser requests.
Core Features¶
- Version comparison: Displays the current DSH version and the npm
latestversion in the interface. - Precise update: One-click installation of the exact
@deepseek-ai/dshversion returned by the registry and validated by SemVer. - Automatic restart: Automatically restarts the current DSH start command after the update completes.
- Progress monitoring: Displays update progress and trimmed npm logs; prevents concurrent updates.
- Data retention: The update process retains sessions, configurations, profiles, and plugins under
$DSH_HOME. - Security boundary: HTTP routes accept only loopback addresses and same-origin browser requests.
Installation and Enablement¶
In a Web profile environment, install it using the following command:
dsh plugin --profile web add github:jijiz1/dsh-self-updater
If the plugin already exists in a local directory, you can also reference its path directly:
dsh plugin --profile web add D:\DSH\dsh-self-updater
After installation, restart dsh web. A version capsule appears in the upper-right corner of the page; click it to enter the update-checking workflow.
Usage¶
Click the version capsule in the upper-right corner of the page, and the plugin starts the update workflow. After the update completes, DSH automatically restarts; no manual operation is required.
Security and Limitations¶
- Package name and version: The update package name is fixed to
@deepseek-ai/dsh, and the version source is limited to thelatestdist-tag from the npm registry. - Cache location: The npm cache is located at
$DSH_HOME/self-updater/npm-cacheand does not depend on system npm cache permissions. - Concurrency control: The plugin prevents concurrent updates.
- Restart logic: After the npm command completes, the installed manifest is re-read; if the versions do not match, it will not proceed to the restart phase. A failed update does not trigger a restart, and error logs can be viewed in the panel.
Applicable Scenarios¶
This plugin is suitable for users who need to manage DSH versions within the Web interface, especially in scenarios where preserving data integrity under $DSH_HOME is important.
Summary¶
dsh-self-updater makes CLI update operations visual and ensures security through same-origin access control. For developers seeking convenient operations, it is a practical helper tool.
