Introduction¶
DeepSeek Harness (DSH) uses a plugin-based architecture, allowing developers to extend its capabilities as needed. If you want to generate images directly in a conversation and save them to the local workspace, a dedicated plugin is required. dsh-minimax-image is a plugin maintained by Jack-sun-learner. It registers the image-gen tool, connects to the MiniMax image-01 model, converts text descriptions into PNG images, and writes them to disk.
Core Features¶
This plugin provides the following capabilities:
- Text-to-image generation: Based on the MiniMax
image-01model, supporting 8 aspect ratios (16:9, 9:16, 1:1, 4:3, 3:4, 3:2, 2:3, 21:9). - Tool integration: Registers the
image-gentool in DSH, enabling the model to invoke image generation directly. - Credential reuse: Automatically reads
MINIMAX_API_KEY, with no additional configuration required. - Local saving: Generated PNG images are saved to the
generated/directory in the workspace.
Installation and Activation¶
To install the plugin, first obtain its source code, then register it through the DSH command line.
- Download the plugin code to a local directory, for example
/path/to/dsh-minimax-image. - Install the plugin into both the
webandheadlessprofiles:
dsh plugin --profile web add /path/to/dsh-minimax-image
dsh plugin --profile headless add /path/to/dsh-minimax-image
After installation, restart the dsh web process.
Configuration¶
The configuration precedence from highest to lowest is:
1. Profile patch / Plugin row config
2. ~/.config/dsh-minimax-image/config.json
3. MINIMAX_IMAGE_* environment variables
4. Built-in defaults
Environment Variables¶
The plugin relies on the following environment variables:
MINIMAX_API_KEY: MiniMax API key (readable from DSH credential storage as well).MINIMAX_IMAGE_MODEL: Specifies the model ID.MINIMAX_IMAGE_BASE_URL: API endpoint URL.MINIMAX_IMAGE_OUTPUT_DIR: Output directory.MINIMAX_IMAGE_TIMEOUT_MS: Request timeout in milliseconds.
Configuration File Options¶
Default values can be overridden in ~/.config/dsh-minimax-image/config.json:
| Field | Description | Default |
|---|---|---|
apiKeyEnv |
Environment variable name storing the API key | MINIMAX_API_KEY |
baseUrl |
API endpoint URL | https://api.minimaxi.com/v1/image_generation |
model |
Model ID | image-01 |
aspectRatio |
Default aspect ratio | 16:9 |
outputDir |
Output directory (relative to the workspace) | generated |
timeoutMs |
Timeout in milliseconds | 120000 |
Typical Usage¶
After enabling the plugin, simply describe the scene in the conversation. The model will call the image-gen tool and, upon successful processing, return the path where the image was saved.
Example prompt:
Generate a cyberpunk city night scene with neon lights and rain
Example model response:
Generated 1 image (16:9):
- D:\AI_video\generated\minimax-2026-08-18T12-16-11-1.png
Use Cases and Notes¶
- Permission requirements: The plugin runs with the permissions of the current DSH process. Ensure the process has write permission to the output directory (default
generated/). - Source code review: Before installing a community-maintained plugin, it is recommended to review the source code and license (this project is MIT-licensed).
- Ecosystem context: This plugin is listed in the SkillHub community directory and has no official relationship with DeepSeek or High-Flyer.
Summary¶
dsh-minimax-image addresses the need for directly generating images and persisting them in the DSH environment. With simple installation and configuration, you can use the MiniMax image-01 model to create images within the conversation flow.
