In the use of DeepSeek Harness (DSH), frequently appearing approval prompts (such as file writes, Shell command execution, or sandbox escalation) interrupt the workflow. Although these approvals are security mechanisms, confirming them one by one reduces efficiency in high-frequency operation or automation scenarios. The dsh-auto-mode plugin is introduced below; it simplifies the workflow by automatically accepting these prompts.
Plugin Role¶
dsh-auto-mode is a workflow plugin for DeepSeek Harness, maintained by developer Igumi-BeXst. It addresses the issue of approval prompts interrupting operations by automatically granting authorization to improve interaction smoothness.
Core Features¶
- Automatic Approval: When auto mode is enabled, operations requiring approval, such as file writes, Shell commands, and sandbox escalation, pass automatically without manual confirmation.
- Status Indication: A persistent status chip is displayed above the Composer (input field) and reflects the current auto mode state in real time.
- Safety Exceptions: To prevent accidental operations, destructive Shell delete commands (such as recursive deletion, wildcard deletion, or deletion of a drive root directory) still require mandatory manual user approval.
Installation and Enabling¶
To install the plugin, perform the following steps:
- Install the Plugin
Run the installation command to add the plugin to the Web configuration file:
dsh plugin --profile web add github:Igumi-BeXst/dsh-auto-mode
-
Adjust the Configuration Order
The plugin must be the first entry in the configuration list to work correctly. Edit~/.dsh/profiles/web/package.jsonand move"dsh-auto-mode"to the first position of thedsh.profile.bundlesarray. This ensures the approval listener is registered before the Web UI responder; otherwise, automatic authorization will not work. -
Restart the Service
Restart thedsh webservice and perform a hard refresh (Ctrl+Shift+R) in the browser.
Usage¶
- Toggle Mode: After installation, click the status chip displayed above the Composer to enable or disable auto mode.
- Persistence: The state of this toggle is persistent and retains the last selection after the service restarts.
- No Message Interruptions: Switching modes does not generate chat messages; feedback is provided only by the status chip change.
Notes¶
- Hot-Reload Limitation: Hot reloading breaks automatic authorization; you must restart the
dsh webservice to restore the ability to automatically accept prompts. - Plugin Compatibility: Some router-family plugins (such as
dsh-mode-boost) may clear runtime context visible to the model. Although the status chip still displays, the model may not perceive the auto mode state. - Default Configuration: The plugin’s default configuration key is
dsh-auto-mode.enabled, with a default value offalse.
Summary¶
dsh-auto-mode reduces interaction cost for routine file operations and command execution by automatically accepting approval prompts. For scenarios that require consecutive multi-step execution, the plugin significantly improves operational fluency. If you need to handle destructive commands, keep manual approval mode enabled to avoid accidental deletions.
