DeepSeek Harness (DSH) adopts a plugin-based architecture. During development or debugging, when a large number of sessions have accumulated, cleaning up, archiving, or permanently deleting sessions usually requires navigating to a specific path or waiting for background cleanup. The dsh-session-dustbin plugin simplifies this process by providing a direct deletion entry in the left-side session menu and unified management of archived sessions in the settings panel.
What It Is¶
The plugin is maintained by Github-CJX and aims to address the inconvenience of deletion operations in DSH session management. It adds a “Delete Session” option to the session list and provides a standalone “Session Trash” interface for viewing and cleaning up archived sessions.
Core Features¶
- Delete sessions directly from the left-side session menu: In the “⋯” menu of a session row, adds “🗑 Delete Session” below “Archive Session”.
- Deletion flow: First archives the session via the platform’s
workspaceRegistry.archiveSession()(the sidebar immediately removes the row) → deletes the local session directory → deletes the header frame cache → cleans up theworkspace.jsonmarker. - Archived session management: Manage archived sessions under Settings -> Plugins -> Configurable -> “Session Trash”.
- Lightweight list: The list only displays the header frame (title / creation time / turn count), without decompressing
session.l.zstd; each operation is O(1). - No content reads: There is no interface for reading conversation content, and no option to expand and view details.
Installation and Enablement¶
The repository provides a sync-profile.mjs script for synchronization. After cloning the repository, run the script to install the plugin into the DSH profile, and finally restart DSH Desktop to apply the changes.
node sync-profile.mjs
Typical Usage¶
- Click “🗑 Delete Session” in the left-side session row menu.
- Click “Session Trash” under Settings -> Plugins -> Configurable to manage archived sessions.
Use Cases and Caveats¶
- Irreversible operation: Deletion is irreversible; the confirmation checkbox must be ticked.
- Menu mechanism: Menu injection is performed via DOM injection, and reopening the menu may restore it.
- Session matching: Session IDs are looked up by title; for duplicate titles, the first one is used.
- Memory residue: The running host retains deleted IDs in memory, and the list filters based on directory existence.
- Performance considerations: Conversation content is not read to ensure performance; to view content, use the platform’s session opening feature.
- Permission risk: The plugin runs with the current DSH process permissions; inspect the source code and license before installation.
Summary¶
dsh-session-dustbin is a tool focused on session cleanup. By stripping conversation content and maintaining only header frame information, it implements intuitive deletion and archive management while preserving performance.
