Preface

The design philosophy of DeepSeek Harness (DSH) is “everything is a plugin”. During development or debugging, maintaining a structured Markdown knowledge base is a common requirement. Relying directly on external services or LLMs to manage it lacks determinism and may raise privacy concerns. The dsh-llmwiki plugin provides a wiki storage and retrieval solution that requires no network access or model calls by using the local file system and deterministic algorithms, ensuring reproducibility and integrity of the data.

Plugin Overview

dsh-llmwiki is a local-first, source-linked Markdown wiki storage and retrieval plugin. It is maintained by EveGoodEvening and follows the MIT License. The plugin aims to provide DSH with deterministic storage, retrieval, and structural integrity checks, with all data stored in a single wiki root directory under the local file system.

Core Features

The plugin provides the following core capabilities:

  1. Immutable sources: Source files are stored using SHA-256 content hashes, ensuring that source records are immutable once written and cannot be modified or deleted.
  2. Source-linked pages: Pages are validated by the source IDs referenced in their Markdown frontmatter, ensuring the correspondence between pages and source records.
  3. Deterministic search: Deterministic search is implemented with the BM25 scoring algorithm, and index rebuilding is performed on demand.
  4. Structural checks: It provides checks for the file system, integrity, link diagnostics, and index status, but does not perform semantic judgment or automatic repair.
  5. Secure file system: The wiki root directory must be a real directory; symbolic links are rejected, and all paths are confined to the root directory.
  6. No external dependencies: The search, tools, commands, and Lint functionality do not call any models or network interfaces.

Installation and Enablement

Before installation, make sure the environment meets the dependency requirements: Node.js ^22.19.0 || >=24 and pnpm 11.7.0.

1. Install the Plugin

Install the package through the DSH configuration manager:

dsh plugin --profile web add @evegoodevening/dsh-llmwiki

2. Create a Configuration Patch

By default, the installation package does not activate the llmwiki Loader line; it must be explicitly patched and opted into. Create the configuration file /etc/dsh/llmwiki-web.patch.yml:

- insert:
    - id: llmwiki
      name: '@evegoodevening/dsh-llmwiki'
      config:
        root: /var/lib/dsh/llmwiki/web
        maxSourceBytes: 2097152
        maxPageBytes: 524288
        maxResults: 20
        maxSnippetBytes: 1200
        commandDiagnosticLimit: 20

3. Apply the Configuration and Restart

Reload the configuration using the patch file:

dsh --profile web --patch /etc/dsh/llmwiki-web.patch.yml --dump-config

After restarting the configuration file, use /wiki status or /wiki lint to verify the plugin state.

4. Uninstall (Preserve Data)

If you need to remove the plugin without deleting the wiki data:

dsh plugin --profile web remove @evegoodevening/dsh-llmwiki

Configuration and Usage

All configuration keys for the plugin are optional and can be set in the config node of the patch file. The main configuration items include:
* root: Path to the wiki root directory.
* maxSourceBytes: Maximum byte length for a single source file (default 2MB).
* maxPageBytes: Maximum byte length for a rendered page (default 512KB).
* maxResults: Maximum number of search results (default 20).

After enabling the plugin through the steps above, it exists as a DSH service, tool, and command, available for Agent invocation.

Notes

  1. Scoped name: Always use the scoped package name @evegoodevening/dsh-llmwiki; do not use the unscoped dsh-llmwiki.
  2. Explicit activation: The installation package does not activate the Loader line by default; an explicit patch is required.
  3. Data compatibility: Upgrading to the secure default bundle performs no data migration and preserves the existing root directory, IDs, and indexes.
  4. File system restrictions: The wiki root must be a real directory, and the plugin rejects symbolic links.
  5. Source management: Sources are never modified or deleted by the plugin.

Summary

dsh-llmwiki provides DeepSeek Harness with a localized, deterministic Markdown wiki solution. Through immutable source records and deterministic search, it is suitable for development scenarios that require strict data management, privacy protection, and offline operation.
