Usage

  1. Select text from any message in the conversation window.
  2. A “Quote” button automatically appears at the mouse position.
  3. Click the button. A faint “Quote: xxx ×” hint appears above the input box.
  4. Enter content in the input box below and click Send. The message will be sent automatically with > Quote: xxx at the beginning.
  5. Click the × in the top-right corner of the hint to cancel the current quote.

Technical Notes and Limitations

  • This is a pure client plugin with zero runtime dependencies.
  • The client module is automatically loaded via the dsh.client manifest and requires no build step.
  • Selection detection logic: it triggers when text is selected and the selection is outside the input box / editable area, without relying on specific DOM markers.
  • The quote is written to the draft through the conversation.input.dock slot and is prepended before submission when sending.
  • Note: If a small number of custom themes hide this slot, the faint hint may not be displayed. After clicking “×” to cancel, if the quote has already been inserted into the draft, you must manually delete the corresponding > Quote: … line from the draft.
