The core design philosophy of DeepSeek Harness (DSH) is “everything is a plugin.” As the number of community plugins grows, managing these plugins—locating them, reading their descriptions, and obtaining install commands—can become cumbersome. The DSH Plugin Box is a plugin installed within the Harness web client, and it acts as a plugin marketplace.
This plugin connects to the community-maintained Oh-My-DSH catalog, displays plugins from GitHub in the Web interface, provides Chinese descriptions, sorting by stars, category filtering, and search, and allows users to copy official install commands with one click.
Feature Overview¶
DSH Plugin Box provides the following core capabilities:
- Browsing and searching: Displays community plugins from GitHub, with search supported by plugin name, author, full repository name, Chinese description, or English description.
- Information presentation: Provides Chinese descriptions and license information, sorted by GitHub star count from highest to lowest.
- Catalog management: Pulls the latest plugin list from Oh-My-DSH and supports category filtering.
- Installation assistance: Click to copy the official install command; it does not execute installation directly.
- Local cache: Refreshed catalog data is saved in the browser’s localStorage and remains available after restarting the client.
Installation¶
Run the following command in the terminal to install the Plugin Box. You must specify the --profile web parameter because this plugin runs in the web client environment.
dsh plugin --profile web add github:boyuan623-coder/deepseek_harness_plugin_box
If starting from the Harness source code directory, use:
pnpm dsh plugin --profile web add github:boyuan623-coder/deepseek_harness_plugin_box
After installation, you must completely quit and reopen the DeepSeek Harness web client (or desktop client) to see the Plugin Box in the interface.
Usage¶
Opening the Panel¶
After successful installation, you can open the Plugin Box panel in the following two ways:
- Sidebar entry: Click Plugin Box near the bottom of the left sidebar or near the Settings button (it appears as a blue whale box icon when collapsed).
- Settings entry: Open Settings → select Plugins on the left → click Plugin Box at the top.
The top of the panel displays the current number of plugins and the last time the catalog was refreshed.
Browsing and Filtering¶
- Sorting: The list is sorted by GitHub star count from highest to lowest by default.
- Search: Enter keywords in the search box to match plugin name, author, full repository name, Chinese description, and English description.
- Category: Click a category chip to filter the current list; click All to show the full list.
Installing Community Plugins¶
The Plugin Box only copies commands; it does not install plugins directly on your machine.
- Click + Copy Install Command on the plugin card.
- Paste the copied command into the terminal and run it.
- The command format is usually
dsh plugin --profile web add github:<author>/<repository>. - After running the command, completely quit and reopen the client so the new plugin takes effect.
If the plugin repository is TypeScript source code and requires a local build, you may encounter an issue where pnpm 10 refuses to run the prepare script. In that case, configure allowBuilds in the pnpm-workspace.yaml of the corresponding profile to allow the package’s build scripts to run.
Refreshing the Catalog¶
Click Refresh Catalog in the top-right corner of the panel. The plugin pulls the latest plugins.json from Oh-My-DSH.
The refresh operation performs the following logic:
1. Filters repositories with type = plugin.
2. Updates star counts, descriptions, and license information for existing plugins; if a new description is empty, retains the existing Chinese description.
3. Appends newly discovered plugins to the list without clearing the existing list.
4. Writes the merged catalog to the browser’s localStorage (key: dsh.plugin-box.catalog.v1).
Refreshing requires internet access. If it fails, the panel shows the reason, and the existing list is not deleted.
Security and Notes¶
- Code execution environment: The Plugin Box itself does not host code or modify community plugin source code. After you run
dsh plugin addin the terminal, the plugin code runs on your machine. - Permissions and trust: Before installing any third-party plugin, make sure to review the README and source code on GitHub. Catalog data comes from Oh-My-DSH and is for reference only; it does not constitute official certification.
- Cache cleanup: Uninstalling the Plugin Box does not automatically clear the cached catalog. If you need to reset the catalog to its initial state, delete
dsh.plugin-box.catalog.v1in the browser developer tools.
Maintenance and Build¶
If you are a maintainer and need to update the built-in catalog data of the Plugin Box, you can run the build script:
node scripts/build.mjs
The build process supports specifying the data source via environment variables:
OH_MY_DSH_PLUGINS: Points to Oh-My-DSH’sdata/plugins.jsonPLUGIN_BOX_JSON: Points to a list file containing Chinese descriptions
