Introduction

The Web GUI for DeepSeek Harness (DSH) can be extended through plugins. When developing or using agents for long conversations, quickly jumping to a specific turn or reviewing context is a common need. The biggerboy/dsh-conversation-anchors plugin draws an anchor rail along the left side of the conversation area, providing a navigation experience similar to Codex, and supports collapsible display of the thinking process.

Core Features

This plugin mainly improves the efficiency of locating and reading in long conversations, offering the following core capabilities:

1、Anchor rail and hover preview: By default, it uses a Codex-style design and draws short light-gray horizontal lines on the left side of the conversation area. The line for the current scroll position is longer and darker. When you hover the mouse over a line, nearby lines become shorter according to their distance, creating a gentle contour, and a preview card appears with a summary of the question and response.

2、Multiple style options: You can switch to the DeepSeek (right-side) style in Settings, or use the official DSH (right-side) style. After switching, the anchor rail appears on the right side of the conversation area or uses the official built-in rail.

3、Keyboard navigation: When the anchor rail is present or focused, you can use j/k to move up and down, and Home/End to jump to the first or last turn, enabling mouse-free navigation.

4、Thinking process collapse: Compatible with older DSH versions. When the official DSH Compact folding is not enabled, the plugin collapses the “Thinking process” in each response into a single line. Clicking it expands or collapses the content.

5、Full conversation outline: DSH 0.1.2-alpha.3+ supports the turnOutline projection. The plugin can list all turns, including those not yet loaded. Clicking an unloaded marker triggers on-demand paginated loading and jumps to the relevant turn.

Installation and Enablement

Before installation, ensure the environment meets the requirements: Node version ^22.19 || >=24, and the dsh CLI is installed.

1、Use the following command to install from the npm registry (recommended):

dsh plugin --profile web add @biggerboy123/dsh-conversation-anchors

During installation, pnpm may print a missing peer warning. This is a benign notice; just make sure the command exit code is 0.

2、Restart the dsh web service to load the plugin. Refreshing the browser page will not re-fetch the plugin.

Usage

1、Default mode (Codex left-side): The short horizontal lines on the left correspond to each user question. Hover to view the preview card, and click a line to smoothly scroll to the corresponding message.

2、Switch to DeepSeek (right-side): Open Settings → General, and in Anchor Style select DeepSeek (right-side). After switching, the anchor rail appears on the right side, with a slot height of about 30%.

3、Keyboard operation: Use Tab to move focus to the anchor rail, then use arrow keys or j/k to jump quickly.

4、Thinking process collapse: If the official DSH Compact folding is enabled, the official implementation handles folding; otherwise, the plugin groups the process narrative into Thinking process · N steps.

Technical Details and Limitations

1、Platform limitations: Supports only the Web GUI platform (platform: "web"). TUI and headless modes are not supported.

2、DOM injection: Because the sidebar shell has no externally registerable slot, this plugin uses DOM-level injection to implement the feature.

3、History loading strategy:
- In DSH 0.1.2-alpha.3+ and when turnOutline is supported, the plugin merges the official outline and does not automatically fetch history in the background, avoiding freezing the tab.
- In older DSH versions (without outline projection) or when the official style is selected, the plugin calls loadOlder() in a loop after opening a conversation, but stops at approximately 4000 messages (80 pages) to prevent browser stuttering.

4、Version dependency: DSH 0.1.2 or later (including alpha versions) is recommended to get full conversation outline support.

Summary

This plugin enhances the reading experience in the DSH Web GUI through anchor navigation and conditional thinking-process folding. For developers who frequently review context or work with long conversations, it can effectively reduce cognitive load.
