Preface¶
The default interaction mode of DeepSeek Harness (DSH) is session-based peer-to-peer dialogue. When coordination is needed among multiple agents, or when human users and multiple DSH sessions need to be integrated into a single conversational space, the lack of group chat capability creates operational fragmentation. The dsh-chat plugin provides DSH with a visual Web group chat interface, supporting mixed collaboration between local sessions and remote cross-host sessions.
Plugin Positioning¶
dsh-chat is a DSH plugin maintained by the user baixianger (MIT license). It extends DSH’s agent capabilities into shared rooms, allowing users and agents to communicate within the same room through a timeline, with support for structured message delivery and remote host integration.
Core Features¶
- Shared Rooms and Timeline: Provides a clear, readable timeline that distinguishes general messages from messages sent to a specific agent.
- Agent Selection: Selects the receiving agent through a Mention Picker, rather than relying on simple text
@mentions. - Remote Support: Supports connecting to remote hosts through
dsh-weave, enabling remote members to join local rooms. - Agent Toolset: Agents can proactively manage rooms using tools such as
chat_create,chat_join,chat_invite, andchat_send. - UI Details: Supports Chinese and English labels, host theme colors, avatars, timestamps, and a keyboard-friendly member drawer.
- Persistence and Sessions: Room sessions and membership relations are persisted, remaining visible after restart.
Installation and Activation¶
Before installation, ensure that the environment satisfies the dependency requirements (such as dsh-bridge and dsh-weave). The installation commands are as follows:
dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-bridge@latest dsh-chat@latest
dsh web
Typical Usage¶
- Create a Room: Send an instruction to an agent to create a room, for example, “Create a group chat called Release.”
- Open a Room: Open the room in the Chatrooms workspace.
- Select a Session: Use the member drawer to select a Host, Workspace, and Session.
- Send a Message: Compose a message and, when needed, select the agent to trigger using the Mention Picker.
- Remote Collaboration: For remote members, install
dsh-weave@lateston both hosts and pair them in Settings → Weave.
Use Cases and Considerations¶
- Wakeup Mechanism: Directly entering an email address or a literal
@aliascannot wake up an agent. The structured selection in the Mention Picker is required. - Authoritative Host: Each room has only one authoritative host, responsible for managing membership and message storage.
- Permissions and Storage: Room state files use owner-only file permissions. A host must provide session persistence services before visible room sessions can be created.
- Operation Cancellation: A cancelled operation stops delivery to subsequent receivers.
- Future Plans: Features such as rich task handoff, remote approval cards, and session export/replay are not yet implemented.
- Local Operation: Local rooms work normally without Weave.
Conclusion¶
dsh-chat provides foundational group chat coordination capabilities for the DSH plugin ecosystem. With its clear room view and agent selection mechanism, it is suitable for scenarios requiring team collaboration and multi-agent participation.
