Introduction

DeepSeek Harness (DSH) adopts an “everything is a plugin” philosophy and modularizes functionality. During agent development and debugging, managing session traces, Prompts, MCP configurations, and repairing sessionlogs often requires switching between different interfaces, resulting in a long operational path.

dsh-context-console is a complete context workbench plugin for DSH. It consolidates the previously scattered session trace display, Prompt/Skill/MCP/Tools categorized management, cache observation, message forging, and sessionlog repair into a single workbench. This plugin is the official successor to dsh-assistant-message-forge; it inherits its message forging capabilities, RPC compatibility layer, and existing data directory, while adding new context management features on top.

Core Features

The plugin provides the following workbench capabilities:

  • Trace Brick Wall: Displays conversation events such as user, assistant, reasoning, tool call/result, and request header. Supports expansion, filtering, and inline editing.
  • Categorized Management: Dual-column management of Prompts, Skills, MCP, and Tools. Supports drag-and-drop enable/disable, as well as selecting Prompt insertion position.
  • Cache and History: Tracks request header changes, cache read tokens, and management actions. Data is persisted to an SQLite history stream.
  • Simulated Messages: Supports injecting Assistant, User, Tool Call, Tool Result, or raw JSON events.
  • Message Forging: Retains drafts, provides detailed context cards, supports surface replace, and offers import recognition and direct injection capabilities.
  • Session Repair: Recognizes JSONL/Zstandard sessionlogs. Uses a “post-write branch override + official crash closer + Session.create validation” strategy to create repaired sub-sessions. This process never rewrites the source log file.
  • Sub-agent Trace: Recognizes subagent tool call/result events and displays their traces in a nested view when a sub-session ID is available.

Installation and Activation

Install the plugin by calling pnpm through Corepack:

corepack pnpm dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-context-console

If you are currently using dsh-assistant-message-forge (Message Forging console), it is recommended to complete the replacement in one step to avoid two plugins registering the same compatibility RPC:

corepack pnpm dsh plugin --profile web remove dsh-assistant-message-forge
corepack pnpm dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-context-console

After installation, the existing data under $DSH_HOME/assistant-message-forge/ will be reused directly, without conversion. Restart DSH after installation to load the plugin.

Compatibility Versions

DSH is currently undergoing rapid, breaking evolution. Before installing, verify the compatibility matrix:

Plugin release channel DSH baseline Compatibility commitment
npm latest (current official plugin release) dsh-v0.1.1-rc.2 Verified maintenance baseline
npm next candidate dsh-v0.1.5-alpha.1 Adapted to Session Log V3
Future DSH official release Not yet released Declared compatible after release and validation

Note: Development builds do not replace npm latest. The alpha.5 dependencies are strictly locked to 0.1.5-alpha.1, continuing to use snapshotEvents(), SessionSeq, and SessionLogOffset.

Environment requirements:
* Node.js: ^22.19.0 || >=24.0.0
* pnpm: It is recommended to run through Corepack (version 11.7.0).

Data and Security Boundaries

The following data storage locations are involved at runtime:

  • Context Console configuration: $DSH_HOME/context-console/manifest.json
  • History and cache events: $DSH_HOME/context-console/history.sqlite
  • Inherited drafts and context records: $DSH_HOME/assistant-message-forge/

Security and permission notes:
* RPC reuses the DSH Connection’s Host/Origin fence and browser authentication; the plugin no longer maintains separate authorization policies.
* MCP configurations may contain environment variables or request headers; review sensitive fields yourself before exporting state.
* sessionlog repair only creates a new session with parentSession; it does not overwrite or truncate source files.
* Sessions that are in progress or contain unclosed turns will reject message injection and surface replace.

Summary

dsh-context-console is suitable for developers who need to deeply manage session context, debug Prompt logic, or repair log files in a DSH environment. It provides a one-stop operational entry point from trace viewing and resource management to message injection and log repair.
