Introduction

DeepSeek Harness (DSH) adopts a plugin-based architecture, allowing developers to customize workflows by extending functionality. For developers, the persistence of session history, configuration files, and custom data directories (such as memory banks) is a basic requirement. Manual backups are easy to overlook and time-consuming. The dsh-backup plugin aims to solve this problem by providing an automated backup solution that packages important data into an archive.

Plugin Introduction

dsh-backup is an unofficial plugin maintained by community members and is released under the MIT License.

It primarily addresses the risk of data loss during DSH development and supports backing up the following:
- Session records
- Configuration files
- Custom directories

The plugin supports scheduled automatic backups and manual backups, includes an automatic rotation mechanism (retains the most recent backup files), and packages the data into .zip archives.

Installation and Activation

Before installing, ensure your DSH web version is at least 0.1.0-rc.6.

Install the plugin from the command line:

dsh plugin --profile web add "github:a903067276-rgb/dsh-backup#main"

After installation, restart dsh web to activate the plugin.

Usage

  1. Open the backup panel
In the DSH interface, open Settings → Backup.

  2. Check the status
In the status line, you can see the time of the last backup, the scheduled time of the next automatic backup, and the default path of the backup folder (~/Documents/DSH/backup).

  3. Manual backup
Click the “Back up now” button to immediately perform a backup.

  4. Configure backup content
In the Custom directories setting, you can add additional absolute paths. For example, if you store your memory bank in a separate directory, add that path to ensure the backup archive contains all critical data.

  5. Manage the backup list
In the backup list, you can view generated backup files (file name format: dsh-backup-*.zip), file sizes, creation timestamps, and manually delete them.

  6. Set up scheduled tasks
By default, the plugin runs a scheduled backup every 6 hours. You can disable scheduled backups in the settings or adjust the backup interval.

Notes

  • Recovery method: This plugin provides backup functionality only; recovery is manual. You must stop the DSH process, restore the extracted files to their original locations, and make sure the current data has been verified as correct.
  • Overwrite policy: The plugin does not overwrite any existing files automatically, to prevent accidental data loss.
  • File management: Only files generated by the plugin (dsh-backup-*.zip) in the backup folder are listed and can be deleted; other unrelated files are not processed.
  • Version compatibility: Compatibility with DSH versions is on a “best-effort” basis and has not been tested across all versions. It is recommended to use the plugin with DSH 0.1.0-rc.6 or later. If compatibility issues occur, try switching plugin version tags.
