Introduction¶
The core philosophy of DeepSeek Harness (DSH) is “everything is a plugin.” In the Web UI, official stat lines are often truncated during long conversations, making key metrics (such as the token count at the end) invisible. The detailed distribution of context usage is also not intuitive. The dsh-bottom-stats plugin is designed for this purpose. It is located below the input box on the conversation page and provides a full-width stats line and a context usage progress bar, aimed at solving the issues of data truncation and usage visualization.
Plugin Overview¶
This is a DSH Web UI plugin developed by maintainer 318197375 (MIT License). It mainly addresses two pain points: first, the official stats line is truncated with an ellipsis when the data is too long; second, users find it difficult to intuitively view the detailed distribution of context usage.
Core Features¶
- Full-width stats line: Displays turns/steps, LLM/tool duration, first token/throughput, cache hits, and input/output tokens. The line spans the full width of the main column and is centered. Regardless of conversation length, the trailing “output … tok” remains fully visible and is no longer truncated.
- Context usage progress bar: Centered within the conversation content column, it displays the usage proportion segmented by “system prompt / tools / conversation messages.” On the right side, it shows the usage percentage and used/total tokens (for example,
18% 177K/1M). Hovering over the progress bar shows the full readings and a breakdown of each segment. - Shared data source: Uses official projections such as
sessionStatsandtokenUsageto ensure data accuracy, while the text follows the system language.
Installation and Enablement¶
- Install the plugin. Run the following command in the terminal:
npx -p @deepseek-ai/dsh dsh plugin --profile web add github:318197375/dsh-bottom-stats
- Restart the Web Profile. The
webprofile must be restarted after installation for the changes to take effect. Because this involves bundle-layer changes, refreshing the page is not enough to load the new code; the process must be fully restarted.
Typical Usage¶
After installation and restart, no additional configuration is required. Open any DSH session, and two lines of information will automatically appear below the input box.
* View complete metrics: Check the stats line. The full-width metrics are displayed completely and are no longer truncated.
* Monitor context pressure: Observe the colored segments of the progress bar. Hover to view the specific token proportions and readings.
Applicable Scenarios and Notes¶
- System requirements: DSH Web UI (
platform: web) is required. - Technical dependencies: Depends on the official
conversation.composer.dockslot and projections such assessionStats. All standard Web setups already provide these. - Permissions and security: This plugin is a pure JavaScript distribution, has no
preparebuild script, and does not requireallowBuildsauthorization. You can review the source code and license before installation.
Conclusion¶
dsh-bottom-stats enhances the bottom information display, helping developers more clearly understand conversation state and context pressure. For more details, visit the GitHub repository.
