Introduction¶
The core design philosophy of DeepSeek Harness is “everything is a plugin.” For developers accustomed to running agents long-term in the Web interface, the interface is often static. The dsh-whale-girl-pet plugin places a blue-haired whale maid in the bottom-right corner of the DSH Web interface, providing visual companionship and status feedback for long development sessions through workflow animations, cost statistics, and daily interactions.
Workflow and Interactions¶
The plugin includes 46+ transparent animations (WebM VP9 alpha), covering multiple scenarios:
- Workflow states: including starting work (appearing at a computer desk typing), work cycling (serious work / slacking off / thinking / caught slacking), ending work with a celebration, and being interrupted.
- Time awareness: triggers different states based on the current time, such as sleepy from 8:00–10:00, eating a bento at 12:00, and drowsy from 23:00–3:00.
- Sleep system: automatically falls asleep after 5 minutes of inactivity and wakes up when operated.
- Interaction: supports feeding (eats Token dried fish, 30-second cooldown).
Cost Statistics and Dashboard¶
This plugin provides a complete cost-tracking system with a unified data source.
Task Completion Bubbles and Pills¶
At the end of each task round, a bubble pops up containing duration, consumption, and cost. Costs are split into three buckets: cache hit, cache miss, and output. Below the input box and in the action line of each reply, pills also show the cumulative session cost and the current-round cost; clicking them reveals details for cache hit / cache miss / output.
Data Dashboard¶
Click the dashboard button (📊) to open an inline SVG dashboard, supporting an hourly view for today and a view for the last 7 days. The Y-axis supports switching between cost and Token metrics, and the chart is stacked by three segments: cache hit (blue), cache miss (orange), and output (purple).
The bottom of the dashboard displays the cache hit rate (calculated as cacheRead / (input + cacheWrite + cacheRead)), along with summary data (last 24 hours, today, average, input, output).
Data source: Real-time data is derived from incremental folding of ctx.on('session/event'); historical data comes from backfilling sessionPersistence at startup. Data deduplication is verified through both a “per-session set of seen seq values” and “call identity.”
Daily Features¶
Balance and Usage¶
Click the balance button to query the current balance, today’s Token consumption, and cost. Cost calculation is based on the DeepSeek official price list. Starting 2026-09-10, the Flash series has new pricing adjustments (off-peak / peak pricing), and weekends are billed as off-peak all day.
Weather and Settings¶
Click the weather button to view tomorrow’s weather. It supports Chinese city names or automatic location detection. In the “Desk Pet Configuration” section of the DSH settings panel, you can adjust Pomodoro reminders, late-night care, the roaming toggle, button position, the dashboard historical backfill toggle, dashboard window days, long-task threshold, and weather city.
Installation and Configuration¶
- Run the installation command:
dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-whale-girl-pet
- Restart the
dsh webprocess. After modifying the client bundle, a restart is required, otherwise the new code will not take effect. - Refresh the browser page; the desktop pet will appear in the bottom-right corner.
Notes¶
- Restart requirement: After updating the plugin or modifying files in
lib/, you must restartdsh webfor changes to take effect; refreshing the browser page alone is not enough. - Billing rules: Prices are based on the DeepSeek official price list. The Flash series has new pricing adjustments (starting 2026-09-10), and weekends are billed as off-peak all day.
- API limitation: The data dashboard uses the read-only endpoint
GET /api/whale-pet/usage. - Data source: The data fully relies on the host-provided
sessionPersistenceand event stream, and does not depend on an external database.
Summary¶
dsh-whale-girl-pet extends the DeepSeek Harness user experience from simple command-line interaction to desktop companionship through a visual desktop pet, precise cost bucketing statistics, and an SVG data dashboard. Its billing calculation remains consistent with the official pricing, making it suitable for developers who need fine-grained monitoring of Token consumption and session costs.
