Introduction

The DeepSeek Harness (DSH) web interface is mainly used to view agent runtime logs and tool call results. In conversation records, file paths and URLs are usually present as plain text. Clicking these texts directly does not achieve the effect of “opening a file” or “visiting a link,” and users often have to copy and paste them manually.

The path-click plugin addresses this interaction pain point by listening to mouse hover events. When the user hovers the mouse over a file path or URL, it directly displays a popup menu with action options such as “Show in File Explorer” or “Open in Browser.”

Plugin Positioning

This is a DSH web interface plugin maintained by developer whw19761006. Its core value is transforming static text paths into interactive entry points, simplifying local file management and web page navigation.

Core Features

The plugin provides the following capabilities:

  • Hover detection and popup menu: When the mouse hovers over a file path or URL, a vertically arranged popup menu is displayed.
  • File Explorer actions: Supports one-click showing files or folders in Windows File Explorer.
  • Open in browser: Uses the default browser to open files of any type (such as HTML, JS, images, logs, etc.), with the same effect as entering a file:// path in the browser address bar.
  • Automatic link opening: Hovering over http/https/file/mailto links automatically triggers opening in the browser.
  • Tool call card support: File paths included in tool call cards also support hover actions.
  • Safety restriction: To prevent environment variable expansion issues, if a path contains the % character, opening it in the browser is denied.

Installation

Before installation, ensure that DSH and pnpm are installed.

Install the plugin via the command line:

dsh plugin --profile web add github:harmony520/path-click

After installation, you need to close and restart DSH, then press F5 in the browser page to refresh and load the plugin.

Usage

  1. Open the DSH web interface.
  2. Hover the mouse over any file path or URL.
  3. Click a button in the popup menu to perform the action (such as “Show in File Explorer” or “Open in Browser”).

Notes

  • Platform limitations: This plugin is mainly developed for Windows. macOS/Linux branch code exists but has not been verified.
  • Dependency association: Opening files depends on the browser’s default file associations. If the system cannot read the registry, the plugin falls back to the system’s default open method.
  • Path resolution: Relative paths (such as those in tool cards) are resolved relative to the host process’s cwd. Under default deployment, the cwd is the workspace root directory; if the host startup directory is not the workspace root, relative paths may be resolved incorrectly.
  • Format handling: A trailing backslash on a path is automatically removed to avoid breaking command-line arguments.
  • Security design:
    • The route is not under the /api prefix and only accepts POST requests and JSON data.
    • Origin must match http://<Host>, and Host must be a loopback address (127.0.0.1, localhost, ::1).
    • Only the http, https, file, and mailto protocols are allowed.
  • Text matching: Paths embedded in large chunks of plain text such as “thinking process” do not support hover. The plugin only recognizes text whose content is exactly a path.
