When developing conversations in DeepSeek Harness (DSH), it may be necessary to clearly recognize when a conversation turn has ended. The dsh-complete-chime plugin addresses this need by playing a short chime when a turn completes.

What It Is

dsh-complete-chime is a DeepSeek Harness plugin maintained by Whale-Zhang. It follows the MIT license, supports playing a short chime when a conversation turn ends, and covers both web and desktop clients.

Installation and Enablement

Before using it, make sure DeepSeek Harness is installed. Use the following commands to install it:

dsh plugin --profile web add github:Whale-Zhang/dsh-complete-chime
dsh plugin --profile desktop add github:Whale-Zhang/dsh-complete-chime

After installation, restart the corresponding profile for the changes to take effect.

Core Features

The plugin mainly provides the following capabilities:

  1. Play a chime: Plays a short chime when a conversation turn truly ends (not for manual stops or refresh replay).
  2. Multi-session support: Supports web and desktop clients. When multiple sessions run in parallel, the chime plays each time a session turn completes, without interfering with each other. The session currently being viewed also triggers the chime.
  3. Built-in tones: Provides three built-in chimes: ring, ding-dong, and bell.
  4. Sub-agent control: Sub-agent sessions do not play the chime by default.
  5. Custom audio: Supports uploading custom audio (mp3/wav formats supported), with a maximum file size limit of 2MB.

Configuration

Go to Settings → Plugins → Plugin Configuration, and find the “Conversation Completion Chime” option.

After expanding this option, you can perform the following actions:

  • Enable/disable: Toggle the chime feature.
  • Tone and volume: Select a built-in tone or adjust the volume level.
  • Preview: Preview the currently configured chime.
  • Upload custom audio: Upload or replace a custom chime file.

Notes

  • File path: Custom audio files are stored by default in $DSH_HOME/complete-chime/ (usually ~/.dsh/complete-chime/).
  • File restrictions: Uploaded custom files must be valid audio files and cannot exceed 2MB in size.
  • Autoplay restrictions: If the browser blocks autoplay, click the page once to unlock audio. When the client returns to the foreground, it attempts to resume the AudioContext to ensure the chime plays correctly.

Summary

dsh-complete-chime provides DSH users with a clear feedback mechanism for multi-turn conversations. With simple configuration, it delivers an auditory confirmation when a conversation ends, making it suitable for scenarios where clear awareness of conversation progress is needed.
