Introduction

The design philosophy of DeepSeek Harness (DSH) is “everything is a plugin”. In a Linux environment, agents that need to retrieve package information, command diagnostics data, or CVE vulnerability intelligence typically rely on external interfaces. The dsh-plugin-pkgseek plugin adapts the PkgSeek API and encapsulates these capabilities as native DSH tools, allowing agents to invoke them directly within DSH workflows.

What It Is

This plugin is maintained by web-casa and licensed under MIT. It is a thin adapter that dynamically registers tools via tools/list when the plugin is loaded, and forwards requests to the PkgSeek API.

Installation and Enablement

The plugin is published as an npm package and supports Web and Desktop clients. If both clients are used, it must be installed under both profiles.

  1. Web client installation
dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-plugin-pkgseek
  1. Headless client installation
dsh plugin --profile headless add dsh-plugin-pkgseek
  1. Install from GitHub source
dsh plugin --profile web add github:web-casa/dsh-plugin-pkgseek

Core Capabilities

  1. Tool registration and forwarding
On load, the plugin dynamically registers native DSH tools via tools/list using the name prefix pkgseek_, and forwards requests to the PkgSeek API via tools/call.

  2. Offline snapshot support
The plugin includes a built-in offline snapshot. If the tools/list request fails, it automatically falls back to the tool list stored in the snapshot to ensure basic availability.

  3. System prompt guidance
The plugin provides promptGuidance to help agents decide when to use these tools.

  4. Read-only operations
All provided tools are read-only and have no write permissions.

Available Tools

The plugin provides about 22 read-only tools, categorized as follows:

  • Command and tool intelligence: pkgseek_search_tools, pkgseek_get_tool, pkgseek_resolve_install, pkgseek_identify_binary, pkgseek_query_file_provides, pkgseek_compare_distros, pkgseek_get_context
  • Error and command diagnostics: pkgseek_diagnose_linux_error, pkgseek_lint_command, pkgseek_explain_command, pkgseek_suggest_fix
  • Package management: pkgseek_search_packages, pkgseek_get_package, pkgseek_compare_package_versions, pkgseek_get_package_history
  • Vulnerability intelligence: pkgseek_search_vulnerabilities, pkgseek_get_vulnerability
  • Lifecycle and migration: pkgseek_check_release_lifecycle, pkgseek_get_distro_lifecycle, pkgseek_compare_distro_releases, pkgseek_plan_distro_migration
  • Metadata: pkgseek_get_repository_health

Configuration

The plugin supports behavior control through configuration lines. All configuration options are optional:

- id: pkgseek
  name: dsh-plugin-pkgseek
  config:

Notes

  1. Version requirement: Requires DSH >=0.1.0-rc.7 <0.2.0.
  2. Permissions and security: All tools are read-only, and no API key is required.
  3. Release process: The plugin uses a manual release process with OIDC verification.
  4. Use cases: Suitable for scenarios that require Linux system-level intelligence queries.

Summary

This plugin provides DSH with structured Linux package, command, and CVE intelligence capabilities. By integrating through native tool interfaces, it maintains DSH’s security and consistency. Source code and directory page links are as follows:
