Introduction¶
When running an Agent or workflow in the DeepSeek Harness (DSH) Web environment, tasks often continue executing in the background. When a task completes, requires manual approval, waits for plan confirmation, or gets blocked, these critical states are easy to miss if the browser is closed or in the background. The dsh-task-notify plugin solves this problem. It uses Windows-native notification mechanisms and PushPlus WeChat push notifications to ensure you receive task feedback in a timely manner under any circumstances.
Plugin Overview¶
This plugin is maintained by developer V-Reason and is an open-source DSH web client plugin. It does not rely on browser permissions; instead, it invokes the Windows Notification Center through PowerShell. The plugin supports sending notifications when a task completes, requires approval, asks the user, waits for plan confirmation, or gets blocked. It provides independent on/off controls, persistent configuration, and layout adaptability.
Core Features¶
-
System-Level Windows Notifications
The plugin sends messages to the Windows Notification Center by invoking theBurntToastmodule in PowerShell 7. This includes displaying the notification content, playing a system sound, and using the official DeepSeek icon. -
Mobile Push Notifications (PushPlus)
The plugin integrates the PushPlus service, supporting synchronous delivery of task notifications to WeChat. Even when your computer is not nearby, you can receive reminders on your phone. -
Notification Content and Categories
- Content: Includes the session name (traced up the parent chain to the root session), time, and task status (completed/failed/aborted, etc.).
- Category Triggers: Supports independent reminders for multiple scenarios, including approval required (privilege escalation/out-of-scope access), user question (
ask_user_question), plan confirmation pending (/plancompleted and plan submitted), and goal blocked (persistent blocking causing stop).
-
Hot-Updated Icons
The notification icon readsdeepseek.pngfrom the package by default. After replacing that file, the next notification automatically uses the new icon without rebuilding the plugin or restarting DSH. -
Layout Adaptation
The plugin configuration panel automatically follows the layout ofdsh-better-sidebar. It adjusts its height when the right panel or bottom panel expands, ensuring it does not obstruct the interface.
Installation and Configuration¶
Installation Command
Run the following command in the DSH Web profile environment:
dsh plugin --profile web add git+https://github.com/V-Reason/dsh-task-notify.git
Prerequisites
Make sure your system meets the following requirements:
* Windows 10/11.
* PowerShell 7 (pwsh).
* The BurntToast module is installed:
Install-Module BurntToast -Scope CurrentUser
Important Configuration Notes
- Host Line Injection: This plugin includes a
cordis.patch.ymlbundle patch used to inject the host line. Do not manually writedsh-task-notifyagain in the profile’scordis.patch.yml; otherwise, startup errors may occur. - pnpm Build Limits: In the profile’s
pnpm-workspace.yaml, make sureallowBuilds: node-pty: trueistrue. Otherwise, installation may fail withERR_PNPM_IGNORED_BUILDS.
Usage Instructions¶
-
Get a PushPlus Token
Visit https://www.pushplus.plus, scan the QR code to log in, and copy the “one-to-one push” Token. -
Configure Mobile Push
Click the bell icon on the right side of the DSH interface title bar, expand the “Mobile Push” layer, turn on the PushPlus switch, and paste the Token. Click “Save Token” (or press Enter). -
Test the Channels
Use the “Test Windows Notification” button in the “Notification Type” layer and the “Test Mobile Push” button in the “Mobile Push” layer to verify that pushes work correctly. -
Adjust Notification Types
In the “Notification Type” layer, independently enable or disable different notification types as needed, such as “Approval Required,” “Ask User,” “Plan Confirmation,” or “Goal Blocked”.
Notes¶
- Approval Policy: When the approval policy is
never(for example, thedanger-full-accesspermission preset), approval requests are automatically rejected and do not require manual action. Therefore, approval reminders are not sent. - Configuration Persistence: Except for the Token text input, which requires clicking save, all on/off adjustments are saved immediately without manual saving.
- Version Compatibility: The plugin depends on DSH’s profile plugin mechanism. After installation, make sure the host environment satisfies the relevant dependency requirements.
Conclusion¶
dsh-task-notify reduces the cost of obtaining information while DSH Agents are running by using system notifications and WeChat push notifications. It provides a complete solution from installation to usage, suitable for developers who need stable background task execution and want real-time status updates.
