Introduction

DeepSeek Harness (DSH) supports extending agent behavior through plugins. Running non-urgent tasks during peak time slots can be costly and may consume computational resources. This plugin aims to postpone non-urgent tasks to idle time slots through a scheduling mechanism, thereby reducing costs and improving resource utilization.

Plugin Overview

dsh-offpeak-saver is a local workflow plugin for DeepSeek Harness, maintained by TUcookie and licensed under the MIT License.

Core Features

The plugin provides the following core capabilities:
1. Automatically queues non-urgent tasks and displays the estimated execution time.
2. Executes tasks in native sessions with visible streaming responses.
3. Provides a sidebar dashboard to view savings and task status.
4. Uses local SQLite persistence, so the queue is not lost after restarting Harness.
5. Supports tool calls.
6. Automatically cancels waiting tasks when a conversation is archived.

Installation and Enablement

Before installing, ensure your environment meets the following dependencies:
- DeepSeek Harness 0.1.0-rc.6 or later
- Node.js 22.19+ (Node 24 is recommended)
- pnpm 10+

Install the plugin:

dsh plugin --profile web add ./dsh-offpeak-saver-0.2.0.tgz

Usage

The plugin supports multiple trigger methods:
1. Reply “do it now” in the conversation to execute the task immediately.
2. Add the #offpeak or #batch tag to a Prompt to mark a task as off-peak.
3. Call the offpeak_submit tool to submit a task.
4. Adjust task priority and concurrency through the sidebar dashboard.

Configuration and Limitations

  • base_url can only be set in the installation configuration and must be an HTTPS address. Hot updates are not supported.
  • Tasks within the same session are always executed serially to avoid confusion in message order.

Conclusion

By using local queue management and dashboard monitoring, this plugin provides developers with tools to control task execution time and cost. For more details, refer to: GitHub Repository.
