Introduction¶
DeepSeek Harness (DSH) runs MCP servers in the Web configuration and registers tools in the shared mcp__* namespace. However, the native DSH interface cannot directly view these configurations, tool details, or usage history. The dsh-mcp-view plugin adds a sidebar panel to the Web GUI, providing an overview of MCP servers, tool lists, JSON schemas, and usage statistics based on real session logs.
Plugin Overview¶
dsh-mcp-view is an MCP tool panel plugin designed for the DeepSeek Harness Web GUI. It is maintained by stopchewing and aims to solve the problem that users cannot intuitively view configured MCP servers and their tools. The plugin does not rely on external network requests; all data is sourced from local sessions.
Core Features¶
- Server and Tool Overview: Displays all MCP server instances in a single panel, including transport type (stdio/streamable-http) and endpoint information.
- Collapsed by Default: The server list is collapsed by default; click to expand and view specific tools.
- JSON Schema Display: Shows the full tool description and the model-visible
inputSchema, with support for expanding and pretty-printing. - Usage Records: Displays the last used time and invocation count for tools based on local session logs (
session.jsonl). - Live Search: Supports filtering by tool name, parameter name, server name, or description.
- Session View: Supports switching to a view that shows only the tools visible to the current session agent.
- Sorting and Favorites: Supports sorting by name, tool count, last used time, or favorite status; state is saved in
localStorage. - Health Checks: Performs health checks for streamable-http endpoints and displays online/offline status.
- Data Export: Supports exporting the entire tool inventory as JSON or Markdown.
- Non-MCP Context: Displays other globally registered tools (built-in or plugin tools), providing a complete view of the tool ecosystem.
Installation and Activation¶
Installing this plugin requires a Node.js environment and DeepSeek Harness version 0.1.0-rc.6 (web profile).
The installation command is as follows:
dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-mcp-view
Typical Usage¶
- Clone the repository and enter the directory:
git clone https://github.com/stopchewing/dsh-mcp-view.git
cd dsh-mcp-view
- Add the plugin to DSH via a local path:
dsh plugin --profile web add link:$(pwd)
-
Restart the
dsh webprocess and refresh the browser page. -
Click the “MCP Tools” button at the bottom of the sidebar.
-
Click a server row to expand the tool list.
-
Click a tool to view its description and JSON schema.
-
Enter keywords in the filter to narrow down tools or servers.
Use Cases and Notes¶
- Runtime Environment: The plugin only runs as a DSH Web profile plugin, contains no network requests, and data is fully local.
- API Security: The
/api/mcp-view/toolsendpoint is read-only; it cannot invoke MCP tools and is used only to list tools. - Privacy Protection: Passwords and credentials are never exposed; only the transport type and endpoint URL are displayed.
- Dependencies:
- DeepSeek Harness: 0.1.0-rc.6 (web profile)
- Node.js: ^22.19.0 || >=24.0.0
- Browser: Chrome, Edge, Firefox
Summary¶
dsh-mcp-view provides DSH Web users with a tool entry point for viewing the MCP ecosystem. It implements usage statistics by analyzing local logs and provides full JSON schema viewing capability, making it suitable for developers who need deep debugging or management of MCP tool flows.
