Introduction¶

For DSH users, a common requirement is to complete “find comics, download them, and read them locally” directly within the existing interface, instead of switching to another web page or running a separate downloader. dsh-jmcomic brings this capability into a DSH plugin: it adds a comics button to the sidebar for searching/downloading JMComic comics, browsing a local comic library, and reading within the window.

What Is This¶

dsh-jmcomic is a DeepSeek Harness plugin, maintained by lywusichen, and licensed under MIT. It is positioned as DSH’s JMComic search, download, and local reading component.

The plugin bundles the jmcomic 2.7.3 source code, the commonX and jmcomic-ai packages, and the reader frontend under vendor/, so it can run without installing the jmcomic PyPI package. The documented version is 1.0.3, and package.json requires Node >=22.

Core Features¶

Below are the verified main capabilities:

1、The sidebar provides a comics button, located above the skills button.

2、The small panel allows searching and downloading by ID or title; after binding a local folder, it shows the most recent 2–3 covers, and clicking a cover starts reading.

3、The large modal displays a grid of comics from the local folder, and clicking a comic opens its chapter list.

4、The reader window can be resized by dragging its edges or corners, and moved by dragging the top bar; its size and position are remembered.

5、When reopening a comic, it returns to the previously read chapter and page.

6、The bottom of the reader shows the current page/total pages and provides an input box to jump to any page.

7、Hovering over a card shows a delete button; this deletion capability applies only to albums inside the base folder, while root and system directories are protected.

8、During downloading, a downloading … banner is displayed.

9、In Settings → jmcomic Settings, the default folder and Python path can be modified.

10、On first run, if the environment is incomplete, a one-time prompt is shown, with a link to the upstream project.

Installation and Activation¶

Install the plugin using DSH’s web profile:

dsh plugin --profile web add github:lywusichen/dsh-jmcomic

After installation, find the comics button in the DSH sidebar to use the search, download, and local reading entry points.

Build and Dependencies¶

If building from source, run:

npm install
npm run build

The build generates lib/client.js and lib/server.cjs.

The plugin ships with some runtime dependencies. When certain Python dependencies are missing, the following fallback behavior occurs:

Configuration and Download Rules¶

The settings file path given in the documentation is a Windows path:

~/.dsh/plugins/dsh-jmcomic/settings.json

The download directory rule is:

Bd/{Atitle}/第{Pindex}話

The download concurrency limit is image 3 / photo 1.

Settings can also be modified through the interface:

Settings → jmcomic Settings

Modifiable items include the default folder and Python path.

Use Cases and Notes¶

This plugin suits users who already work inside DSH and want to keep JMComic search, downloading, and local reading within the same sidebar. It brings the “where to read after downloading” step inside DSH, reducing the need to switch between the browser, a downloader, and a reader.

Recommended actions before use:

1、Check the source code and license. The plugin is MIT-licensed, but the download engine, reader frontend, and some helper scripts come from hect0x7’s project and are vendored under vendor/; copyright belongs to their respective authors.

2、Confirm runtime permissions. The plugin runs with the current dsh process permissions. When it reads, downloads, or deletes local files, only authorize the necessary directories.

3、Be aware of deletion protection. Root and system directories are protected, and the delete button applies only to albums inside the base folder.
