Preface

DeepSeek Harness allows model-callable capabilities to be extended through plugins. dsh-plugin-greet is a community plugin designed for beginners, used to register a tool named greet and demonstrate the basic flow of parameter validation, structured output, plugin configuration, and model-invoked tools.

It is not an official DeepSeek AI plugin. DeepSeek Harness is currently in Developer Preview, and future versions may require compatibility updates.

Version and Environment

The installation command uses dsh-plugin-greet@0.3.0.

Version 0.3.x requires Node.js ^22.19.0 or >=24.0.0, and targets the DeepSeek Harness 0.1.1 release-candidate line.

Installation and Activation

First, use the DSH plugin command to install the package into the web profile:

npx @deepseek-ai/dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-plugin-greet@0.3.0

This command is not a regular npm install. A regular npm install only adds dependencies to the current Node.js project; here, using dsh plugin --profile installs the plugin into the specified Harness profile and assembles the corresponding bundle.

After installation, you can view the final configuration to confirm the plugin has appeared:

npx @deepseek-ai/dsh --profile web --dump-config

Then start the Web UI:

npx @deepseek-ai/dsh web

Typical Usage

Open http://127.0.0.1:3080 and send:

You must use the greet tool to greet Ada in a friendly English style.

Expected result:

Hello, Ada!

Then send:

You must use the greet tool to greet 小明 in formal Chinese.

Expected result:

您好，小明。

Configuration Overrides

The plugin exports a validated configuration schema.

If configuration overrides are needed, the subsequent patch layer will replace the plugin configuration line by line, rather than performing a deep merge on individual keys. Therefore, when overriding, it is recommended to keep the full configuration items rather than modifying only a single field.

This plugin is suitable for learning the basic structure of DeepSeek Harness plugins: tool registration, parameter schemas, structured output, configuration schemas, and model-invoked tools.
